Named for the duality between geometry and material that defines the collection, Off Grid is a collection full of contrasts that create intrigue. When asked about the collection and process of collaboration, Cameron Ritcher said, “I think Laura and I have both been able to create some sort of magic that exists beyond both of us [in this collection]. Yes, there are still “my” shapes and “her” shapes - but the way they speak to each other, it’s entirely new.” The collection is a convergence of the artists’ respective visual languages, made fresh and original. The works in the collection deal with shape and color, playing up Laura’s organic, floral, and feminine shapes in conversation with Cameron’s architectural, geometric shapes. Created to tell an intertwined story, each work in the collection offers a different perspective, a different lens, if you will, into the artists’ individual practices while also telling a tale of expanding their horizons, being pushed beyond their comfort zones. 

Laura shares, “Off Grid carries a sense of both play and sophistication throughout. The color interaction is stimulating and unexpected. Our work differs greatly, yet we both create within a grid-based framework. Off Grid pulls us both out of our ‘known’ grids and into a new space.” The repetition of forms, contrast between materials used (textile, wood, acrylic, neon lights) is novel yet familiar. It’s completely original yet nostalgic for collectors who know one or both of the artists’ visual languages. Off Grid leads with playful energy that Laura and Cameron are excited to share with their audiences in November.
